Purveyor & Acquirer / by jeremias corona

Why Purveyor And Acquirer?

As you get to know me, you’ll discover very quickly that I am not a very serious person. I love laughing. Laughter is the best medicine. You probably have heard that saying before. It is incredibly true. Laughter makes you feel better. It heals your soul. So I try to give as much laughter as I can.

So I had to add a little funny flare to my website immediately. However even though it is a sort of joke. The term “Purveyor & Acquirer” actually means something real to me. It’s a reminder every time I see it. A reminder to take the beautiful opportunities that life gives me.

  • Purveyor : a person or thing that habitually provides or supplies a particular thing or quality

To me to purvey means to provide not just anything, but to take the time to provide a service of high-quality. There’s a reason why there are so many options of photographers out there. Because it is easy to buy a nice camera, a nice lens, and throw some filters on your photos. It is easy to even make good photos. But there’s a difference between good, and great. To me being better than great is the goal. I want to provide something that lasts, something that you won’t forget. And to do that, I have spent years learning through experience what looks beautiful.

My style is the result of my whole life. It is the culmination of searching out meaningful art, understanding how art and photography works in a technical form, and immersing myself in beautiful films. Watch any Terrence Malick film, and you will understand what it means to make a piece of art that is immediately recognizable relating to who made it.

To me, a Purveyor is not someone who knows they have expensive gear. It isn’t someone who can talk all day about the technical aspects of their skill-set. Being a Purveyor, to me, is being a person who has spent a vast amount of time doing something that they truly are passionate about, and searching out the knowledge to be able to do that passion, with elegance, and pride.

  • Acquirer : a person, or company that acquires something.

Simple right?

I believe that once someone has the knowledge and skill to carry out their craft and their passion with greatness, its time to go out there and obtain what that skill can get them in life.

Someone can provide and supply a high quality product, or skill to be of service to someone else, but the follow through is what is important. Without obtaining, or acquiring the opportunities that are extended to that person, they cannot truly give great joy to others. The first part of their journey (the purveying) is pointless.

I surround myself with beauty.

I, Jeremias Corona, am a purveyor. A purveyor or photography and videography. A purveyor of high-quality products. And I make sure that if I see something that is useful, I apply that in my art. For example, I am always learning from how others carry out their craft. I see how other photographers capture the moment, how they use lighting, how they adjust their settings, and I learn from that constantly. I love to watch lesser know movies that aren’t “mainstream” and usually will find beautiful techniques and inspiration. If you watch homecoming, the Amazon Prime Original, you will see a very unique style. I notice things like that, and am inspire by them.

I, Jeremias Corona, am an acquirer. I not only acquire the knowledge that I need to keep growing and improving in my art, but I also acquire the proper things to surround myself with to make sure I am functioning optimally. For example the proper lenses to give that perfect look that I need. Also there’s this candle I got from Burke Mercantile in Long Beach that is amazing, and I am pretty sure it helps my work flow to be smoother when I am editing.

I, Jeremias Corona, am a Purveyor and Acquirer.
